Educational Project Coordinator

Provide leadership and coordination of statewide training events with curriculum aligned to internationally recognized quality standards for online teaching effectiveness.  Coordinate, facilitate and moderate CCC Confer synchronous webinars and other faculty training resources and offerings.  Develop and maintain all project websites including informational website http://www.onefortraining.org, Blackboard and Moodle learning management systems, Facebook page, Twitter feed and event registration portal and database.  Survey and consult statewide faculty and staff to determine training and service needs.  Coordinate support resources for media streaming libraries to ensure ADA compliance.  In accordance with faculty and staff feedback, program review, and the MSJC DE plan, serve in district wide shared governance committees to advocate for the distance education program in the district planning and budget development process.  Assist in the planning of the statewide Online Teaching Conference.

Achievements:

  • Coordinated nine multiday training institutes (between 3-7 workshops each) on online teaching pedagogy and effectiveness for nearly 900 faculty statewide

  • Co-developed and coordinated the @One Online Teaching Certification, which is recognized by Chancellor’s Office Technology Unit and Advisory Committee and the ASCCC.  In 9 months since its program debut, we have 230 active program enrollees.

  • Co-authored the MSJC Distance Education Plan 2011 Update

  • Advocated for and assisted in the redesign of the @One webinar program (approximately 250 sessions) which increased the variety of learning technology topics including the production of the IT Best Practices, Building Community Online, Office 2007 and 2010 webinar series

  • Recruited a variety of sponsors for annual conferences including Presidium Learning, Nuance, EMC Paradigm, McAfee, Techsmith, Echo360, Automatic Sync Technologies, and Microsoft Learning

  • Migrated informational web presence to database driven content management system (2010), coordinated efforts for Blackboard system upgrade (from 7.3 to 9.1) and Thriva registration system (from 3.0 to 4.0)

Coordinate faculty technology training options and support services for the @One Self-Paced, Online Learning Program.  Manage the design and development of learning courseware projects.  Facilitate online courses focused on online pedagogy and course management to a statewide faculty audience.  Generate reports on registration analytics and assist in decision support for self-paced learning program.  

Achievements:

  • Using systematic project management practice, successfully set and met development goals, solved design problems, and prioritized development tasks to launch Blackboard 7.3 and WebCT CE 6/8 self-paced learning courses.  Considering survey data from our constituencies, incorporated an asynchronous moderator in these offerings to address the request for just-in-time faculty support needs.

  • Design and developed the Introduction to Teaching with Blackboard 9.0 course including negotiating for commercial level hosting support from Blackboard, Inc.

  • Managed and maintained a self-paced library of 9 online learning courses and approximately 100 webinar archives, achieving 1,943 registrations by 850 faculty and staff statewide

Distance Education Network Coordinator,
Acting Instructional Technology Support Supervisor (4 months)



Managed and maintained distance education hardware/software systems including Enterprise Blackboard Academic Suite.  Coordinated technology training options in the design and implementation of distance education technologies.  Coordinated faculty and student support resources in the operation of distance education technologies.  Assisted in the planning of the annual @MSJC Technology training academy and served as a facilitator for online pedagogy and course management workshops.  Acted as a liaison for online teaching and learning issues between shared governance committees and the Office of Instruction.  Assisted in the development of policies and procedures to govern distance education program.  In accordance with faculty and staff feedback, program review, and the MSJC DE plan, advocated for the distance education program in the district planning and budget development process.  Trained, supervised and evaluated the performance of ITS and short-term employees, student workers and other assigned personnel.   • Co-developed the MSJC Regular Effective Contact policy, Initial Course Check In procedure and the Peer Observation and Evaluation form
     
  • Served as Co-Chair, Technology Task Force 7 and co-authored the Educational Master Plan 2004-2009

  • Provided leadership and coordination of Blackboard upgrade from Basic Learning Management to Enterprise Learning Management and Community Portal license with dynamic student information system integration and single sign on services

  • Provided vision, leadership and coordination on implementation of new web services helpdesk (E-gle Desk) to support faculty and student technical issues
